Artist Statement — Sylvia Shultz

Performing has been my passion since childhood. In India, I was actively involved in the Indian Railways Theatre Troupe, performing plays in Hindi and Telugu while touring the country and winning national awards. When I immigrated to the US in 2000, I continued my love of the performing arts. I have been involved with Ruston Community Theatre for over 12 years as an actress, production stage manager and member of the Board of Directors. I have been in over 12 productions and have won the Rustony Award twice.

I also enjoy Bollywood dancing (dances inspired by Indian cinema) and have performed at many cultural events at Louisiana Tech. My most recent performance was for India Nite 2019, where I danced to a medley of songs from the 50s and 60s of Indian cinema.
